Craziness

Where have I been?

Blogging is one of my most favorite things to do so if I don't blog for a while then you know that I am really really busy!

The thing is that I kinda sorta have about 4 jobs. Fun jobs. Jobs that I like. All, however, are time consuming.

One of the 4 is that I am teaching at a day school and we have our first day (a half day with a parent meeting) on Thursday. So, my co-teacher and I have been trying to get our room ready. Well, on the teacher workdays I went blank about bulletin boards. Literally. I think Jennifer (my co-teacher) really thought I was loopy.

Anyway, here is what we came up with and I think it all turned out to be pretty good. I am happy. ((Don't tell my boss but one is not completed yet!!)) :-)

Here is what is on the outside of our room. The grapes are actually a stolen idea from my friends Rachel and Sharon. They did this for VBS in their room when we were talking about the Fruit of the Spirit. I thought it was a great welcoming bulletin board.

Also, on some of the larger "falling" grapes we put the names of our kids. Jennifer did a great job of writing them in the shape of a circle.
Inside the classroom I wanted to incorporate the Fruit of the Spirit for the beginning of the year because I like to use these words when asking the children to do something or explaining our rules. For example - instead of saying don't be so rough with the toys I could ask them to be gentle, or instead of saying wait a minute I could say please be patient.
Again, we wrote their names on the apples in the apple basket. ((Hopefully we will have pictures of the children to put up on the boards soon.))

This is not a bulletin board. It is just he wall. But this is the Alphabet wall. Each week we will take a pictures of one of the children holding something that starts with that letter and put it beside the letter. I think this wall will be so so beautiful at the end of the year.

Our Sunday Pictures

Sorry So Late!!

2 problems:

#1 - I can not get Justus to stop saying "cheeeese" when I say smile.

#2 - I can not get Hannah to stop tilting her head to the side when I say smile.

It all just cracks me up.

This Girl

Hannah is becoming more and more fun. She is really starting to explore and ask great questions. She is learning so much. She is so fun to be with!!

I have been keeping a list of things I wanted to blog and remember but I keep getting behind...

Here They Are!
  • Hannah came home from the neighbors house and told me that the little girl (age 5) over there calls her church building "church." I couldn't believe she noticed. This young! We say that we are going to the church building to worship and not that we are going to church.
  • She can now, in a booster, turn around and look behind her. When I am backing up the car, she turns around, and "directs" me. "be careful mom, you are getting close to that car" or "you have lots of room, mom" Makes me laugh and drives me crazy. (Don't worry, I don't trust her words - I look and do my own thing.)
  • We were on our way somewhere and we saw some police cars up ahead. Hannah told me that she thought there was an accident and then after we passed by, she said, "See Mommy, I was right - somebody got damage" (and there was a car on the side of the road that had damage from the accident.
  • We were at Target and there was a lady there in one of Target's wheelchairs. I had to do a lot of work to get around her with that big 2-seater cart (not really all her fault at all). We were ALMOST past her when Hannah (who has been staring at her since we got near) whispered to me (not so quietly with her hand up to her mouth) "Mommy I think she could walk but she doesn't want to."

Saturday's Sign

When you see the two-way street sign you should think of:

1 John 3:21-22

Dear Friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from Him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases Him.

Thank You Mrs Donna!

Last Sunday morning Hannah came home with a wonderful thing from her Sunday School Class!

They had talked about helping. And so they brought home a way to measure how much they help.
Every time Hannah helps she gets to move a bead from the left to the right. Then at the end of the day we count how many beads she got to move and praise her for all her helping.

At first she just thought she was cool because she could count the beads. But then I showed her how it worked. I wasn't sure she was really going to "get it" but she absolutely did. From after her nap until bedtime Sunday night she got to move 9 beads. It was great. I was happy she was helping. She was happy she got to move beads.

It is quickly becoming a tradition for Daddy to count the beads she got to move at night before she goes to bed. She just beams out a smile when her Daddy tells her how proud he is of her.

It is really easy to make. They just cut sentence strip paper, punched holes in it, put a pipe cleaner strung with big beads in the holes and taped them to the back.

Thank you, Mrs Donna, for this wonderful project. It has been lots of fun.

My God and I

We sang this during worship last week and I have been thinking about it ever since.

My God and I go in the field together;
We walk and talk as good friends should and do;
We clasp our hands, our voices ring with laughter;
My God and I walk through the meadow's hue.
We clasp our hands, our voices ring with laughter;
My God and I walk through the meadow's hue.

He tells me of the years that went before me
When heavenly plans were made for me to be;
When all was but a dream of dim reflection;
To come to life, earth's verdant glory see.
When all was but a dream of dim reflection;
To come to life, earth's verdant glory see.

My God and I will go for aye together,
We'll walk and talk *and jest* as good friends do;
This earth will pass, and with it common trifles,
But God and I will go unendingly.
This earth will pass, and with it common trifles,
But God and I will go unendingly.

Hearts Uplifted

Please keep the Conner family in your thoughts and prayers as Terre (Dennis' wife) is now living with an untreatable cancer.

Our Sunday Pictures

Sunday Pictures were not a great experience today but... that is OK. What do you expect when you try to take a good picture EVERY week?

Silly.

What a Wonderful Prayer

1 Samuel 2: 1-2

My heart rejoices in the Lord;
My horn is exalted in the Lord.
I smile at my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation.
No one is holy like the Lord,
For there is none besides You.
Nor is there any rock like our God.

Conversation with the Hubby

First of all...
It is Hot. (not as hot as it has been but still HOT!)

Second of all....
My children are crazy and need to be out of the house some times. (Literally for my sanity!)

Third of all...
I had an errand to run. I HAD to go to the post office this morning.

After we went to the post office I took the kids to the park right next to the post office. They needed to run. However, it was hot. HOT at 9.45 am. We played for about 20 minutes and I had to GO! But I couldn't go home yet - the children were still Crazy.

So we went somewhere....

While we were there Chris texts me.
Here is how the conversation went:

CHRIS: Ya'll home?
MINDY: No. & don't ask where we are.... hehe!
CHRIS: OK I won't... tell me where you are.
MINDY: Here is your hint:
MINDY: Here is Hint #2
MINDY: Here is Hint #3... & yes, I know we have no money!

CHRIS: Those kids are spoiled rotten.
MINDY: Yeah.... Your wife may be too!

Saturday's Sign

When you see the Crossroads sign you should think of:

Jeremiah 6:16

Stand at the cross- roads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.

AW's Quote of the Day

My Aunt Wendy emailed me this "Quote of the Day" today.
Thought I would share.

Going to the church building to worship doesn't make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car.

We got lots to do when we leave that building.
I gotta get a move on!!

Miniature Golf

Our first night at the beach, on our vacation 3 weeks or more ago, Chris' sister, brother-law, Chris, and I took Hannah and their son Landon to play miniature golf. It was a little late for Justus to go and I think it was fun for MawMaw and Poppa to get a little alone time with the baby grandchild...

It was a great place. You have to go on a little train ride thingy to get to hole #1. The kids love it (in case you can't tell).

Hannah and Landon are only one week a part in age and are so cute when they get together. I just love getting pictures of the two of them.

Ephesians 2:4-10

But God, who is rich in mercy because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

For by grace you have been saved through faith , and not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

The Park

The park near MawMaw and Poppa's house is so fun.

And at the end they were HOT and TIRED! For sure!

Getting Your Hair Done

OK, I have got to finish up with our vacation pictures.....

Yes, our vacation was about 3 weeks ago. Give me a break, please!

SO, did you know that Hannah does hair?
Well, she doesn't really do hair per say. She was just a little nervous about laying back and getting her hair washed like the "big girls" (the ONLY time my mom and I would like to be referred to as the big girls.. thankyouverymuch!) and so Daddy thought it would be a nice idea to let her pretend to wash his hair in the sink while Hannah was waiting for her turn.
He later realized it wasn't that great of an idea.

Hannah had fun, though. And absolutely laid back to get her hair washed. (I have no pictures of this because everyone but Hannah and I left and she would only do it while she held my hand and squeezed the circulation out of it during. No hand circulation = No picture)
